TBS to host The Feast of Blades National Qualifier

Footer image
Jul. 122012
On August 4th 2012 The Battle Standard will be participating in The Feast of Blades National Tournament by holding an official National Qualifier Tournament.  Here is some information on The Feast of Blades…
In the 40k fluff The Feast of Blades is an event, every 100 years, which invites twelve different Astartes Chapters to a competition. The Chapters send their most talented and skilled brother in arms to represent their chapter and compete in this tournament of Champions.  Through clashing dueling swords and large pints of ale,  this tournament not only strengthens bonds of Brotherhood, but also allows the Chapters a chance to prove their martial skill.  It is a high honor for the individual brothers,  to be invited to the Feast of Blades and to be counted among the very best of the best.
THE INVITATIONAL
Every year across America scores of stores in dozens of states and hundreds (thousands) of players will compete in the annual Feast of Blades Tournament.
The missions are all the same, the painting requirements are all the same and at the end of the qualifier rounds each location will send three champions to represent their store in Denver.  These Champions will then meet a few months after the qualifier to compete in an elite tournament,  which can only be attended by invitation.  Here the competition is fierce and is only meet by the strength of the ale!
Like the fabled Astartes, it is considered an honor to attend the Feast finals and prove not only your personal strength as a player, but also represent your ‘Chapter,’ (FLGS) to the rest of the Champions.
There are thousands of dollars in prize support given for the event, Prizes from previous years included A custom painted banner by Jawaballs, ‘Fellblades of renown,’ dice cubes for all finalists with the Feast logo on the “6” position, shirts for all finalists, GF9 goodies for all finalists, Battle foam swag, Signed Black Library books,  thousands of dollars in GW swag and much much more
Beginning this year the Throne of Skulls tournament is set to lose a lot of its prestige by allowing anybody to purchase a ticket and play in their ‘invitational,’  gone are the days of having to qualify by fire. Also, ‘Ard Boyz is well known to have weird missions which don’t encourage a balanced playing field, not to mention allowing unpainted armies. They also don’t have one “Champion,” any more.  As such, the Feast of Blades hopes to step into a piece of that market and provide a true best of the best tournament.
A quick Q &A:
When and where is Feast of Blades?
– Dates and locations of qualifier events vary, see our “locations tab for details,”
– Feast of Blades (Con) 2012 is being planned for OCT. 26th,27th & 28th.
– The Convention will be held at 4040 Quebec st Denver CO 80216
What exactly is the Feast of Blades?
  – Feast of Blades is an annual wargaming convention in Denver Colorado held in the fall.  Though the 40k Invitational is our main line event we have several other events that weekend including an Open WHFB GT, a Narrative 40k mega battle, and an Open 40k GT (For people who didn’t qualify for the invitational, or people who travelled with a qualifier…or simply someone who just wants to play in a laid back tourney).  There are also many “after hours events,” including pod racing, character gladiator battles, and mega floor battles, chariot races and myriad other things to keep you gaming 24-7 (yes, that means RED EYE gaming!)
–  Why do I want to play in the Con?
Play for the glory, play for fun, play for the prizes, play to play.  We make this con something all players from the hyper competitive (Invitational) to the guy who hates tournaments but  loves themed battles (Narrative battles). If you love wargaming (Or even kinda like it) we want you here!* To find out about the individual events at Feast of Blades visit our “…Event info,” pages.
Competitive players:
What better brag could there be than to know that literally thousands of people competed to qualify and you are the best amongst them!  Have you ever wanted to officially say you are the best in your store/state/region/Nation? Now you have that opportunity.  All players are qualifying on the same measurements.  This is one of the most prestigious tournament formats in the country… Win this and you are easily considered one of the best 40k players in the country. Long story short, if you think your the best… Prove it!
non-tournament players:
the Narrative battles are the things of legend, ever wanted to play out a 40,000 point “siege of Terra,” or “Defense of the maiden world”? Now you can (and win prizes!).  We also have Golden Daemon and Slayer Sword winners giving classes all weekend on how to bring your painting game up a few levels!
Casual-Competitive players:
If you are the kind of person who likes to play in tournaments, but may not always be at the top 5 tables the Open GT is for you!  You get a good level of competition while still being able to relax… This event is all about a celebration of the hobby, bring the list that isn’t tuned 100% but looks amazing!!! The top 4 players in the 40k Open GT 2012 auto-qualify for the Invitational in 2013.
How do I qualify for the Finals?
To qualify you simply have to place in 1st overall, 2nd overall or best general at a qualifier RTT location, to find a qualifier location visit our “locations,” tab. Once you are one of the 300 who qualify you have the ability to fill one of our coveted 200 slots for the invitational.  Tickets will go live after the last qualifier is held.  First come first serve on those 200 slots.
How do I register and get a room for the Finals
When registration opens you can go to our “register and shop,” tab.To reserve a room follow this link: ROOM RESERVATION LINK  rooms are well priced and comfortable, stay awhile!
If you have any additional questions or comments, or if you would like to know how your store can be an official qualifying location for Feast of Blades email us at: Feastofblades@gmail.com
Honor your chapter,
Feast of Blades Staff

AdeptiCon approaches…BE PREPARED!

Footer image
Feb. 72012

In an effort to energize WARHAMMER 40K players and bring in those players too far away to visit us on a more regular basis TBS has organized a 2-part event themed to prepare players for AdeptiCon.

AdeptiCon 2012 is a well-known ‘con’ featuring a parade of events and a bounty of contests peppered with attractions and vendor tables. This year it is being held on April 19th-22nd in Lombard, IL. Information on the con itself can be found by visiting adepticon.org however this post’s focus will be on our event in Manchester CT.

Rules for this 2-part WARHAMMER 40K event can be found below and also within our event calendar (see Events, top menu). For those new to our website, you may also see all upcoming activities in the menu to the right and all upcoming Tournaments and Competitions in the Exclusive Events section just below that.

On to the event! Part 1 will be hosted this Saturday February 11th. The rules are as follows:

  • 5th Edition Rules
  • 1850 Points
  • 3 Rounds

As always prizes will be awarded accordingly and painted armies are always a bonus though there are no official restrictions.

Part 2 of the WARHAMMER 40K AdeptiCon Practice Event will run on Saturday April 7th. Rules will mimic the 1st part listed above. We expect a large turnout for both this Saturday and April 7th and as most players will be returning to the 2nd event from having played in the 1st, we recommend you get in ASAP. Event entry cost is as posted at $15.00. Please don’t wait until the last minute! We are a fairly large location but even we have our size restrictions.

Good luck to the players and may the best General prevail!
